Spotlight on Kenneth Tapley Kenneth Tapley spent his early years farming in Jeff Davis County, Georgia, where he learned to drive and work on Farmalls. For the past 20 years he and his wife, Maurene have lived in Pooler, Georgia. They enjoy living in the coastal area, and being near the lovely city of Savannah. Although there is not much need for tractors in the subdivision where they live, they still keep a few of them close by "just in case." Since his retirement in 2001, Kenneth has had more time to enjoy finding and restoring antique tractors; and puts them to work on his family farm in Tattnall County. Kenneth began collecting tractors in 1968, with a 1947 model 8-N Ford. He recently re-purchased the tractor which he had sold in 1986. It joins his collection of seventeen GOOD tractors, and a good many "works in progress." Among the jewels of his collection are Farmalls A, B, Super A, Super C, a 200, a 130, two 140s, two Cubs, one 154 loboy, and six Cadets. His "works in progress" boast a Scout and his special toy, a 1939 Ford 9-N (serial number 1981) which was originally used on the Henry Ford plantation in Richmond Hill, Georgia. A charter member of the IHC of Georgia, Chapter 29, Kenneth has served four terms as president, and is currently a board member. He and his wife love to travel; and have met many nice people all over the country who are members of IH clubs. Kenneth especially enjoyed working on the 2005 Red Power Round-up in Lebanon, TN, which was sponsored by Louisiana, Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia IHC Chapters. His restored 1972 International 140 H-C (the H-C was the featured model for that year’s Round-up) was chosen to carry Georgia’s flag in the daily review parade.
